These are just a few photographs that capture the exciting time we had in San Diego, while participating at the opening events of the exhibit Interpretations. I am honored that one of my quilts was accepted.

I met new friends and saw artists I already knew. It was such a treat to talk only ART for the whole weekend.

They organized it very well. You could feel the warmth from all the ladies in charge and volunteers.

I also met a wonderful artist Gabriela Domville, her work is fantastic. She also likes to work with paper and cloth so we connected immediately. Loved her solo exhibit called Journey through Motherhood.

Just for fun, I applied my washable paper cloth technique to the white linen blouse I wore for the dinner event. Comic strips were used with oval shapes. It was certainly a conversation piece :)

I just finished a sample for a NEW class I am offering. It’s called Portal. It’s a mixed media project where we will play with different kind of papers, markers, cheesecloth and cloth.

*BLUE* quilt - *Stitched* Celebrating the Art of Quilting

 

*BLUE*

 

To celebrate *The Art of Quilting in Memphis-Tennessee* I am participating in an event called Stitched.

 

The requirements are to make a stitched three layer quilt with any material but a measurement of 24" by 24". Also, it has to be predominantly in blue color. 

 

Did anybody mention *ANY material*? Of course I took advantage of this and embarked on making the quilt you see above with paper and fabric.
 

For the background fabric I applied hand-lettered words to write *Blue-Azúl* . I also made brick shapes in different hues of blue.

Then, I applied my technique Infused Newsprint Cloth (INC) as part of the flower shapes.

Afterwards, simple hand stitching with thick embroidery thread was applied (the same color as my paint)

 

I used the *Hug Stitch* around the flowers and on top in brick shapes for texture.

As a surprise to the viewer I hid  the word blue. So while quilting the three layers together  I made sure to stop at the drawed lines which caused the letters to pop out. It will be interesting to see how many people will notice this detail :).

International Quilt Festival 2018

*LEAF BALLET*

 

This is my quilt that is participating at the International Quilt Festival 2018 quilt contest *World of Beauty*.

 

It all started by designing the shapes by hand and also by computer. Then I decided which part would be made with INC Infused newsprint Cloth and which part would be painted.

Afterwards I mixed the paint to match the thread I wanted to use, in this case Aurifl Lana. (8803 color)

 

After all the hand-work was done the three layers were put together and machine quilted.

And here it is hanging at the show under the surface design category. A dear friend from Wisconsin, Laurie Ceesay, took the pictures due to my absence at the show this year.
