laminated paper piece

September 15, 2011 by Margarita Korioth
I made this piece as a gift to a local quilt store that is celebrating their 15th year anniversary. They have excellent customer service and are always helpful when I go.
Materials used: newspaper, junk mail flyers and magazine clippings, napkins, transfer and thick embroidery threads.

Vat dyed scarf

                                             detail:
Vat dyes work beautifully on silk chiffon. Love the halo that forms around the colors, typically from this kind of dye.

artcloth

June 14, 2011 by Margarita Korioth

I've experimented with the "mashed potatoes resist" method previously, however this time I combined it with manipulation of the fabric and love the results!

Silk Kimono Artcloth blouse

May 10, 2011 by Margarita Korioth
Silk broadcloth resisted with instant mashed potatoes (technique from article Quilting Arts magazine/Lisa Kerpoe ), discharged, silk-screened with fabric reactive dyes and acid dyes. I call it "A Cup of Tea" because I found a fabulous lavender tea the other day.
From that I made this silk/kimono blouse

Alzheimer's donation quilt

May 09, 2011 by Margarita Korioth
"Pájaro"
This is my donation quilt for the month of May for The Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative. This has been made with paper and fabric and for the background I used paints and did hand calligraphy with a dip pen and inks.
The haiku for this piece:

" Soft is the bird's song
sense of happiness and peace
kind cry in my heart "
